Distance: 7.75 miles
Time: 1:02:43
Pace: 8:05
I started my day by going to the farmer's market. There is a fairly big one on campus every Saturday. So I bought some fresh stawberries and rasberries, some fresh homemade pasta and a bottle of local wine :)
Then I started to pack my clothes. Instead of starting to study for finals, I decided to go for my run first. The weather was (and still is) beautiful. Sunny, blue skies and 60* (suppose to be 73 later). I went to my usual river trail route. However, I forgot that today is the Rose Festival. So, I had to weave through a few hundred people along the river and then alter the route because .25 miles were blocked off. There were 3 US Navy ships docked and the river path was blocked off there. It was some part of the festival. In all it was a good run.
For now, its back to studying and laundry.

Fly-By Part Dos
Distance: 4 miles
Time: 30:50
Pace: 7:43
After I finished (at least, I think its finished) my algebra paper I went to the gym for a run. I'm odd among my running friends because I actually like the treadmill. I guess it was during my freshman year at Montana that I fell in love with the treadmill. When you're training for a half marathon in December in Montana, its the treadmill or outside in single digit temps.
Goal for the day: finish my paper (need to re-read it and make sure everything checks out) and finish my number theory homework.

Fly By
Distance: 5.6 miles
Time: 44:38
Pace: 7:56
New route :) Out and back course with a very large uphill section. Basically the first half is uphill. I managed to control my pace back down running a +:45 second splits. Last month was horrible. Sick twice + injured once = 48.12 miles :(
That was my first month under 100miles since November. Oh well, June is a new month and I start Portland training on Monday!

Two More Weeks
Two more weeks of hell. I have not ran since my last post! Really upsets me but I've been insanely busy with school stuff and life in general.
Lets start back about a week ago. I stayed up and watched the LOST finalle. My stomach felt a little upset but nothing horrible. I tried to lay down and sleep at midnight. Fast forward 2.5 hours and I'm still not asleep plus I am now throwing up :( In all I got like 1.5 hours of sleep that night and was sick abour 4 times. I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a momma's boy. Being as sick as I was, I convinced my brother and dad to drive down to Portland and take me home for a few days. I basically layed on the couch at my parents' house for a few days before coming back to Portland on Wednesday.
The next day, I had a meeting with my advisor. Needless to say, being sick and having had a take home exam in Adv. Number Theory, I had no work for her. This week is different. I actually have a small proof to show her.
Now I'm really focusing on my project for Abstract Algebra III. I've got about 5 pages right now and still need to add a proof, an example and a discussion of a theorem. I'm pretty sure he's getting a mini novel from me. I have a meeting with him tomorrow to discuss my progress since we are suppose to be ready to present on Thursday. Clearly, I will not be. Unless he gives me some magic key to my missing proof.
Other than that I've got 2 maybe 3 regular homework assignments and 2 finals before I'm home free. Well....thats all the school work I have. I live in university housing so I need to pack up and find a storage place for all my things for the summer.
This past weekend was amazing! Friday night, I didn't feel like cooking so I walked down the street to get some McD's. I walk back to my building and get in the elevator. Now, since the school is in downtown Portland, you need an access card to use the elevator (so no weird people randomly walk the halls of the residence building). Usually, one person will just ask everyone else what floor and hit the button for them. I hear a girl say she doesn't live here but she's going to the 10th floor. Thats my floor. I look up and see my fiancee! I had no idea she was coming! She decided to surprise me since I was super stressed and hadn't seen her in a month! We spent the weekend together, mostly me working and her being the amazing woman she is taking care of me. Today I took a break from work to relax and spend as much time with her as I could before she left...an hour and a half ago. As sad as I was to see her leave, I'm happy because she'll be back next Monday! She just needs to pack her clothes and head back to our hometown for the summer (from her grad school) and then she is coming back!
Wow, I think this is my longest/only post that didn't involve any running. Hopefully I'll get in some runs this week as training for the Portland Marathon starts next week!

Crazy Busy
Distance: 6 miles
Time: 53:00
Pace: 8:50
I found time to run around 1 today. Went to the gym and hit up the DM for an easy 6 miler. Plan on sneaking out for a 7 miler in the morning.
So, my algebra prof finally gave me the details of my graduate project (not thesis, just for his class) on Thursday. I've got 2 weeks from that date to have a paper finished and a 20 minute presentation ready. The problem is I can't even prove the examples that are suppose to appear in both let alone the real substaintial material. Needless to say I am going to be insanely busy as this is extra to all my regular course work and thesis research. Oh, did I mention all the other grad students in the class got their details 2 weeks before me? Such is my life.
If I have time to post this week, it will probably just be fly-by posts.

Getting back to it
Its been some time since I posted. I had a minor injury. I thought it might have been a stress fracture seeing as the pain was high up on my tibia and localized. The doc said if it was any higher he'd have been worried about my knee. As it was, he didn't think it was a stress fracture. So, he put me on an anti-inflammatory and said to play it by ear. Not wanting to risk anything, I took a week off after the appointment. So its been 9 days or so since my last run.
Today I went to the gym and got in 4 miles on the track. It felt good to run again. Plus, no pain before, during or after! Yay! Going to take a rest day tomorrow, just to make sure I don't jump back too fast and get hurt again.
School has been rediculously busy. I have two more weeks of class. That includes two midterms (don't know how I have midterms this late in the quarter), at least 4 assignments and an 8 page paper/20 minute presentation on the basic properties of group rings/group algebras. Thankfully, as soon as thats over, my baby will be here during finals week!
Back to the books!

Busy Life
Distance: 10 miles
Time: 1:18:29
Pace: 7:51
Today's run was great. It felt easy and the weather was beautiful. I just wish I had brought more water with me. I grabbed one of the 10oz bottles from my Nathan speedbelt but that wasn't quite enough. Good thing there are drinking fountains along the trail.
I haven't posted in a while because life=busy! Things are a little slower this weekend. Meaning I only have 1 class to do work for, abstract algebra. Though, I have problems and a project to be working on. I'm hoping I can get some progress made on my 501 research (for my thesis). I managed to get in 147 miles in April. Not quite the 160 I was shooting for but better than what I ran in March. I'm hoping to set a monthly PR in May, shooting for something between 180 and 190 (PR is 175 from Feb '10).
Well, I heart coffee so I'm going to Starbucks. They have 1/2 price fraps from 3-5pm from now until the 16th!
